This week we continued on with the books we chose last week. However, on monday we did a little something different. We read 3 different essays or articles about signing statements. Then once we read those we wrote a blog about it. Learning about signing statements connected to our books. At first I thought that we were just doing some random assignment that didn't really have anything to do with what we are learning. Signing statements are something that correlates more to a history or government class than english. Once we were near the end of the assignment though I began to realize that it actually does in some way relate to our book. On wednesday we learned about switching registers. We learned the 5 different registers and the significance of all of them. The way you talk to your coworkers isn't the same as the way you would talk to your mom or a friend. Your body automatically switches without you even knowing. When you switch registers that doesn't mean you're fake. You're just expressing a different version of yourself.
