4/26/2017 0 Comments Week 4: Senioritis in Full SwingThis week was kind of laid back. We mostly focused on finishing our projects. I presented my project on Thursday and I felt like it went pretty well. I'm not very fond of presenting in front of large groups of people. However, our class isn't super big so it wasn't too bad. I learned that I don't have to get really nervous before or while presenting because everyone else has to do the same thing. I actually learned quite a bit with the information the other students were presenting. There are still some people that have to present next week and I'm just thankful that I'm not them. I like to get things done and out of the way with. Throughout my high school career I've learned that procrastinating only makes things worse. I still do it sometimes but I try my hardest not to. While doing this project I also learned that I have a severe case of senioritis haha. Trying to stay focused and finding motivation to get work done on time is getting significantly harder. We have about 2 months left of school and these might be the longest yet shortest 2 months of my life. However, we start our senior project soon and I think that should be fun. I know there will be a lot of work to come with it though and that wont be as much fun. I'm just going to try my hardest to take one day at a time and focus on my goals so that I can get things done on time.

4/25/2017 0 Comments Week 3: EventfulThis week was one of our most eventful weeks. We did many things and learned a lot as well. One of the first things we did this week was cornell notes. That was a new experience for me. I've never taken that style of notes before, but it was quite simple and helpful. From there we started reading short stories. The first story we read was Indian Education and that story went a long quite well with my big question. Then we read a story of our choice and I chose Lawyer's League which didn't fit quite as well with my big question, but I made it work. I learned things from both of those stories just like you learn things from almost everything you read even if it's a small thing. By doing this project I have overall learned quite a bit. My big question was "Does your past influence your ability to change your future?" I had to do some research on the question and see what other people thought the answer to it was. It was quite interesting because everyone has a different view on it. So I learned a lot just from other people's responses to my big question. I'm not even completely finished with the project so I'm sure I will learn a lot more.
4/21/2017 0 Comments Week 5: The Start of Something NewThis past week was pretty eventful. We started off the week by presenting our one slide presentations. I learned a few things from other people's presentations. I specifically remember Ethan's presentation about what money does to us. It was like an eye opener that money really does control this world and this world wouldn't be what it is today without money. This week we also briefly started our senior projects. To ease our way into the project we started talking about the difference between a leader and a volunteer. One is not better than the other cause we definitely need both in this world. However, in terms of our senior projects we need to be leaders not just volunteers. On the topic of senior projects, I also learned the real purpose of doing this senior project. I learned that we aren't just doing it for a class grade but for something beyond the school campus maybe. On wednesday everyone came up with a secret question they had and wrote it on the board. I found it very interesting to see what other people were wondering.
3/28/2017 0 Comments Week 1: Nothing MuchIt was my first week being back in an English class. Usually a lot happens in the first week. However, that wasn't the case in this class. Mr. Schoenborn was gone all but one day of the week. We didn't necessarily learn a whole lot. Towards the end of the week we started a poem. I thought that poem was a lot of fun to write. I'm not a very creative person so having the template type thing to follow made it easy to write. We also had to set up our weebly pages at the beginning of the week. I already had his class though so I just helped people set up theirs. That about sums up what I did this week. I learned very little but I'm sure as I take on more and more weeks the more and more I will learn.
3/24/2017 0 Comments Week 2: A New StartI'd say that this week was our first official week of ELA 12B. We started out the week by listening to and sharing our Where I'm From poems. I really enjoyed listening to people shares there's because it allowed me to see a side to them I may have never seen before. Its kind of nice to see where everyone comes from. On tuesday we watched a video of our choice based on a conversation about race and views on it. I watched one the was about a conversation with their black son. It was very heart touching. I learned that no matter where you're from, if you're a black male you're going to get judged or looked at differently at some point in your life because of your race. The past couple of days we've been talking about the Power of Identity. While talking about this I've learned that when given a word everyone comes up with different connotations to that word. It's kind of neat to see what words some people come up with that never even came clost to crossing my mind. Just today we talked about the difference between school and learning and I've learned something from that as well. I go to school every day thinking "oh I'm just going to school and probably not going to do much". Little do I know, I learn something everyday that I come to school no matter how big and significant it is. It's been an interesting week trying to get back into the grove of things. I think it will be an interesting but fun trimester.
